About This Tour
The Public Haunted Van Tour delivers the same chilling ghost tour experience our guests love — now with more seats, full air conditioning, and a custom art-wrapped van that turns heads (and makes for excellent spooky photos). You'll visit historic Austin locations that are reportedly haunted or have experienced documented paranormal activity, including the Clay Pit and Littlefield House at UT.
Guests get out of the van frequently and go inside some establishments along the route. Walking is minimal, though there are a couple of staircases. Your guide will be in full spooky attire and ready to bring Austin's dark history to life.
Sodas and water are waiting on ice. You're welcome to bring your own beverages and spirits!
Tour Details
- Price
- $49 per ticket. Gratuity is not included — see gratuity guidelines below.
- Availability
- Regular schedule is Tuesday–Sunday at 7:30 PM. Additional tour times are offered in October, including Monday evenings and weekend matinee tours when the weather cools off.
- Minimum Party Size
- We require at least 2 people to run the tour. You may book individual tickets and join other groups.
- Maximum Party Size
- The van accommodates 11 guests. You may book parties up to 10 online. If you need that extra seat, please contact us to make arrangements.
- Age
- Due to tour content, we request guests be 13 and up. For younger guests, please consider our Private Hearse Tour.
- Meeting Point
- All guests meet at Walter's Tavern, 2336 S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704 at tour time. Arrive early if you'd like to order food or drinks before the tour. Please do not be late!
- Tour Length
- Tours last approximately 3 hours.
- Drinks
- We provide water, sodas, cups, bottle openers, and ice. You may bring your own alcoholic beverages — BYOB is welcome.
- Clay Pit Coupon
- Each ticket includes a 2-for-1 entree coupon for the Clay Pit Restaurant — one of your spooky stops — redeemable anytime.
- Gratuity
- Your guide works hard to provide a safe and memorable experience. Tipping is appreciated — here are some guidelines:
- 18% — Good
- 20% — Great
- 25% — Amazing
- 28% — Time of your life!
- Cancellation Policy
- Space is limited and seats cannot be re-sold once reserved.
- No-shows, same-day cancellations, and cancellations with less than 48 hours notice: no refund
- Canceled 2–7 days before your tour: 50% refund
- Canceled 7 or more days before your tour: full refund
